School is back for most Lamar Consolidated ISD students, although virtually.
Because LCISD school campuses are still closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic until April 10, students and teachers are now completing their classwork online through the district’s online portal, ClassLink.
ClassLink is LCISD’s single sign-on program that allows students to access all learning and communication applications in one location. Students and parents can reach the portal at https:// launchpad.classlink.com/lcisd.
Some teachers are also using other online methods to reach their students.
The popular app Zoom is being used to communicate with whole classes about the lesson plans.
The district is asking students to complete all weekly assignments and work on each subject every day of the week.
LCISD teachers are available to talk or chat on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend ISD is prepared to launch its online learning procedures next week.
Supt. Dr. Charles Dupre said that he planned to give out more detailed plans about the online learning experience on Thursday.
“When FBISD begins to offer online learning, you can trust it will be a well-thought-out, well-developed system of instruction, and we will keep you all updated in advance about the launch of this system,” Dupre said.
Dupre did ask FBISD students and parents to use the FBISD At Home Learning webpage to get acclimated to using digital learning. The site is at https://www.fortbendisd.com/.
Responding to a premature email from one of its schools that the district would give out device equipment this week, FBISD said on its Twitter account that there are no plans for distribution at this time.
“Fort Bend ISD is diligently working on plans to provide devices to families who have indicated a need, but those plans have not been finalized and no distributions are planned at our campuses this week,” the tweet said.
Needville ISD also has some of its resources available online, but the district has not released any plans for online or remote classes. Students and parents can go to https://launchpad.classlink.com/Needville and log in with their six-digit student ID to access the district’s online resources.
Needville High School students who do not have internet access can pick up work packets at the school from the school from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Administrators ask that students practice social distancing and stay six feet apart from each other when picking up packets.
