The award-winning platform now available to district recognized nationally for technology innovation
Clifton, NJ – September 13, 2017 – To improve access to digital learning resources, Calcasieu Parish Public Schools (LA) implemented ClassLink® to create fast, easy, secure access for teachers and students. With more than 5,000 single sign-on connectors and comprehensive use of open technology standards, ClassLink® is the most inclusive single sign-on platform in education today and is now available to everyone within the district.
Dr. Sheryl Abshire, Chief Technology Officer for Calcasieu, cited the need for school districts to ensure access is no longer an obstacle to digital learning, “As school districts rapidly expand the use of technology, we need to be mindful of the many barriers that teachers and students face, not the least of which is the frustration from too many passwords.” Abshire is a past Chair of CoSN, is the present Chair of the CoSN Policy Committee and has served on numerous CoSN committees and task forces. Sheryl is the past President of the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators, presently serving as Vice President of Programs and Advocacy and served on the FCC Universal Services Administrative Corporation (USAC) Board representing our nation’s K-12 schools and libraries. Additionally, she is a founding member and Board Chair for the CoSN Chapter, the Louisiana Chief Technology Officers Council (LACTO).
Given her role as a nationally-recognized leader in educational technology, Abshire’s evaluation of ClassLink was predicated on key criteria. “We knew that ClassLink could provide a leading single sign-on platform, but we were pleasantly surprised at how expansive their library of applications is and how well they integrated file access into the overall experience. And we are thrilled to have an analytics component that will help us understand which digital resources are being used and which may be gathering dust.”
A leader in providing single sign-on and class rostering solutions for K-12 and Higher Education, ClassLink has a range of options that further reduce barriers to effective technology utilization, including QR Codes, Facial Recognition, and Remote Login.
ClassLink Senior Vice President of Instructional Technology, Jan Mills, praised the district for investing in digital access, stating, “Calcasieu Parish is recognized throughout the country as a leading innovator in the use of digital learning materials. We’re thrilled to support their work and honored to be considered a key partner in our success.”
The pace of ClassLink adoptions continues to accelerate in districts like Calcasieu Parish, across Louisiana, and around the country. ClassLink OneClick® is now the preferred single sign-on platform for thousands of schools and districts around the world.
