Challenge

Too Many Passwords, Not Enough Learning

Teachers faced frequent classroom disruptions due to login delays, as students struggled to remember multiple passwords for various third-party applications. These issues not only slowed down instruction but also placed a significant burden on the district’s IT team, which spent excessive time manually rostering students and provisioning accounts in Active Directory (AD). The lack of automation made managing digital access a time-consuming challenge, diverting resources from other critical IT priorities.

Helping Educators Focus on Teaching, Not Tech Issues

To simplify access and improve efficiency, Rich School District implemented ClassLink’s IAM solutions. LaunchPad provided students with a single password to access all their applications from a personalized landing page. Roster Server automated the assignment of third-party applications based on grade level, eliminating manual rostering. With OneSync, student accounts were automatically created in Active Directory with the correct credentials and group assignments as soon as they were added to the Student Information System (SIS). These solutions transformed IT operations, freeing up valuable time for both educators and the technology team. Now, teachers can focus on instruction without login-related disruptions, and IT staff can devote more attention to strategic initiatives rather than manual account management.

Big Digital Gains for a Small Rural District

Rich School District, located in northeastern Utah, serves a wide geographic area with a small enrollment of around 500 students. The district is committed to providing modern educational tools to its students and staff.

Challenge

Teachers were frustrated by the time-consuming process of helping students log into various third-party applications which often led to delays in classroom activities. Students struggled with remembering multiple passwords, further compounding the issue. On the backend, the district’s IT team spent considerable time manually rostering students and provisioning accounts in Active Directory (AD), which stole time from other critical tasks.

Solution

To streamline digital access and automation, Rich School District implemented ClassLink’s IAM solutions. LaunchPad allowed students to log in with one password to access all their assigned applications on a personalized landing page. Technology Director Casey Johnson praised Roster Server for its ability to automatically assign third-party applications to students by grade level, eliminating manual rostering tasks. With OneSync, student accounts in Active Directory were automatically created with the right credentials and group assignments as soon as they were added to the Student Information System (SIS).

Results

ClassLink transformed the way Rich School District manages digital access and IT operations. Teachers and IT staff reclaimed countless hours by eliminating manual account provisioning and troubleshooting login issues. Roster Server and OneSync streamlined backend processes, ensuring student data and accounts are always up-to-date and accurately assigned. Now teachers can focus on instruction instead of navigating technical barriers, fostering a smoother and more engaging classroom experience.

"ClassLink has helped us ease what can sometimes become a burden from technology. They've gone above and beyond to tailor the services they offer to our specific needs, and we appreciate it very much.”
