Timing Is Everything: What to Do Before and After Your SIS Rollover

May 7, 2024
Back to Blog

It's May, which means the countdown to the end of the school year is on.

Now is the time to plan for your SIS data rollover–steps 3 and 4 in the  Back to School checklist. Whether this is your first time going through this process with ClassLink or you need a refresher, we're here to help.

Here's what we recommend you do this month.

Register for the May Meetup

First up, register for our live May Administrator Meetup on May 22nd at 1:00 pm ET. This month, our ClassLink experts show you exactly what to do in LaunchPad, Roster Server, and OneSync before and after your SIS rollover.

We'll also help you think through some often-forgotten considerations, such as when you want teachers and students to be able to access apps and schedules for the new school year.

Can't make the Meetup? Register anyway, and we'll share a recording of the session.

Set Up Your Blackout Dates and Limited Imports

At last month's Admin Meetup, we showed you how to set up your Blackout Dates and Limited imports. You'll need these dates to start planning for Steps 3 and 4. If you still need to complete these steps, the recording of our April meetup is a great resource to help you get started.

Plan Ahead for Steps 3 and 4

While you might still be a few weeks out from starting steps 3 and 4—since they happen after the school year ends—this is the perfect time to get familiar with these steps and begin setting reminders in your calendar. These reminders can include when to enable and disable LaunchPad Apps and when to check new school year sharing permissions.

In Case You Missed It

There's a New Instance of Roster Server

If you still need to migrate to our new, more secure instance of Roster Server, now's the time. You'll bring improved data security to your school. This latest instance uses a new URL and updated protocols. If you still need to transition, use our Required Security Updates Checklist to walk you through the process.

Switching Authentication Methods? We Have a Course for That!

In fact, we have three helpful resources to guide you through a change to your authentication method. Find them all below.

That's it for this month. See you at the May Meetup!
