Studies in Maine and British Columbia have demonstrated measurable success through programs which provide a laptop for every student. The progress has been shown in writing score increases of 20% to 30%, as well as encouraging changes in technology skills and student attitudes, motivation, and work habits. These confirmations of laptop programs are described in eSchool News article, “Studies Validate Laptop Programs in U.S., Canada.”
In addition to the progress noted by teachers, students agreed that laptops improved the quality of their schoolwork. In fact, more than half of students and nearly two-thirds of teachers agreed that the laptop program made a positive difference.
More good news was the fact that there was improved teacher/student interaction, especially with “low-achieving” or “at-risk” students. Teachers noted improvements in “students’ engagement, class participation, ability to work in groups and ability to work independently.”
ClassLink allows 24/7 Student Computer Access
With ClassLink LaunchPad™, your district’s centralized servers can deliver 24/7 access to the technology tools to help students and teachers access files on any computer, anywhere. Students can also use their own home computers for all school programs with the use of LaunchPad™.
Ease of use was the primary focus when we designed ClassLink LaunchPad™. Users have easy and consistent access to all of their applications and work files. Teachers and students want reliable access to their software, to be able to save their work and print. We built that system.
Interactions between students and teachers are critical to learning. With LaunchPad™ teachers can interact with students and other teachers in several ways including chat, screenshots and even taking control of a student's desktop.
